My name is Vincent, ask me anything. I have been evangelizing data and open source for the last 5 years. You might know my from tech talks where I attempt to defend common sense over hype in data science.
I’m a self taught developer and data scientist currently living in the Netherlands. In the past I’ve been:

- co-founder of the satRdays Amsterdam conference
- a data/open source evangelist with a track record of speaking.
- co-creator of some open source packages; evol, scikit-lego
- a youtuber (sortof) for the spacy project
- involved with many data projects; from bayesian recommenders to deep learning to data mining.
Currently I work over at GoDataDriven in Amsterdam. Here I help companies get better at what they do by using data. It’s a pretty rad company and it’s a pleasure to work there. It’s a place with enjoyable, capable collegues and I’m given a fair amount proper cases with impact for important clients.
I believe in open source and don’t mind to evangalise from time to time. I have this blog about slightly less obvious aspects in the world of data science to help people get started as well as to keep a record of things that interest me. I’m known for speaking at events but also for giving free lectures in data science around Europe. I feel it is a fair way of giving something back as well as a fun way to learn about what problems people are trying to solve with data.
I’m not just giving these open sessions in Amsterdam. Feel free to notify me if you’ve got a venue/meetup, I tend to circle around during conference season and I prefer to give free teaching sessions at least twice a year.
The future is pretty awesome, all we have to do is build it.
